Bond Street Advanced Works
Crossrail is a major new railway, 118 km (73 mi) in length, under construction in South East England. It will link Berkshire and Buckinghamshire, via Greater London, to Essex and Kent.
Ten-car trains will run at frequencies of up to 24 trains per hour in each direction through the central tunnel section. The central section of the Crossrail route will run via Paddington, Tottenham Court Road, Farringdon, Liverpool Street and Whitechapel stations.
Advance works at Bond Street comprise secant piles, contiguous piles, bored piles, diaphragm walling, and associated civil works, excavation, temporary works and propping, to form the two station boxes in which the eastern and western ticket halls will be constructed.
Before the works begin, five shafts need to be constructed for compensation grouting to ensure that nearby properties are protected from settlement that may occur during the future tunnelling works.
Compensation Grouting
The equipment being installed by Sixense within the borehole casings will enable the ground to be monitored as the excavation and tunnelling works progress for the new station and ticket halls.
A datalogging solution has been developed to facilitate real time monitoring of piezometers and strain gauges and remote access to data with Geoscope monitoring software.
